The Toronto Raptors are trying to mend fences with Wale. A rep for the Raptors tells TMZ that team announcer Matt Devlin didn't mean to disrespect the rapper during Tuesday night's game against the Washington Wizards in Washington D.C.
As the camera focused on Wale sitting courtside, Devlin remarked that Wale is "not Drake, that's for sure." Wale later went up to the broadcasting booth and confronted Devlin. The incident was caught on tape, but it's not clear what Wale said to Devlin.
Now, the Raptors organization is saying that Devlin was simply "making fun of himself" for not knowing the Grammy-nominated rapper. The rep adds that Devlin often pokes fun at himself over the fact that he's not "pop culture savvy."
The Raptors are trying to put a positive spin on the confrontation. They have reached out to Wale's people and asked him to join Devlin in the broadcasting booth when the team returns to Washington in March.
